Speedwell Forge Lake is a 106-acre reservoir located in the northeast part of the county and is managed by the Fish and Boat Commission. The reservoir is primarily used for fishing and un-powered boat recreation, but is also home to a wide variety of birds and wildlife. The lake contains a couple of boat docks that provide great vantage points for lakeside birding, as well as a 1 mile hiking trail along the southwest side of the lake. Speedwell Forge Lake is a great spot for viewing waterfowl and wading birds, but the lake serves as a home for many bird species.
