Octoraro Lake is a 650-acre man-made reservoir located in the southeast section of Lancaster County. The entire reservoir is gorgeous, but the best spot for birding is where Mt Eden Rd intersects the northern part of the lake. This section of the reservoir contains reeds and mudflats where a variety of waterfowl, wading birds, and migrating shorebirds can be found. Forested area surrounds the lake, which makes the reservoir a great place for observing bird species beyond waterfowl. Birding at the lake is primarily a stationary activity, there are no hiking trails at the Mt Eden Rd intersection and the reservoir can be observed from a few vantage points along the road.
