There is one birding area that is king in Lancaster County: Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area. Managed by the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Middle Creek is a 6,000-acre preserve with 20 miles of hiking trails and numerous vantage points of the Middle Creek Reservoir. Middle Creek is famous for the thousands of Snow Geese that visit every year, but the wildlife management area has the highest recorded number of bird species in Lancaster County.
